Hungary to receive another shipment of Pfizer vaccine
Hungary on Tuesday will receive another shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine, sufficient to inoculate 35,685 people, Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller has said.
Speaking at the daily online press briefing of the central board coordinating efforts against the epidemic, Müller said that the amount was “somewhat less” than expected.
So far, Hungary has received enough vaccines to inoculate 129,860 people, and 123,188 people have received their shots, including over 10,000 residents and staff in elderly care homes, Müller said.
She said it was crucial to find vaccine suppliers outside the European Union, but added that the country should use “safe and effective vaccines exclusively”.
Concerning the Chinese vaccine, she said it was the kind that contained inactivated viral particles, adding that those vaccines “have been tried and tested and do not make patients ill”.
In another development, Müller said that 5,920 employees of the social sector had been tested for coronavirus on Saturday and Sunday, with 0.7 percent of them, 41 people, testing positive.
Government contributes another EUR 5.5m to fight pandemic
The government has purchased medical equipment worth a combined 2 billion forints (EUR 5.5m) under the Healthy Budapest Programme, aimed at helping efforts to fight the coronavirus epidemic, Human Resources Minister Miklós Kásler told an online press conference on Monday.
Kásler said that the equipment, including mobile disinfecting robots, mobile x-rays, incubators, and hospital beds, were distributed between 17 hospitals.
The programme was launched in 2017 with the aim to modernise hospitals in the greater Budapest area, using a budget of 700 billion forints until 2026.
As we wrote before, “Brussels is not delivering vaccine fast enough nor is it delivering enough vaccine to Hungary,” the Government Information Centre said in a statement, details HERE.

Delighted.
Trust this buries the lunacy of purchasing the Chinese vaccine that has NO universal Accreditation nor Recognition – other than a mere 50/50 statistic of effectiveness of immunization against the novel coronavirus.
